IRS APPEALS REPRESENTATION
A tax return is a complex document in which you may have errors or omissions if you decide to fill it out yourself. The tax system automatically checks each declaration for errors or fraud. Also, sometimes (no more than 2% of cases) the tax service randomly selects declarations for verification. What should you do if you received an audit letter?

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT:
1. Reschedule the time and date of the audit if it does not suit you.
2. Choose an audit on the territory of the Tax Service or by mail.
3. Restore documents if you don't have them or you haven't saved them.
4. Defend your position in a reasoned manner.
5. Contact a professional at any time of passing the test, even if you started it yourself.
WHAT NOT TO DO:
1. Talk a lot and quickly. The auditor may think that you are cheating or you may say something superfluous during the interview. Be brief, answer the question calmly.
2. Do not give information to the auditor for other years or in other areas that he did not ask about.
3. Do not argue your point of view emotionally or aggressively. Be polite.
4. Do not explain to the auditor your financial difficulties and that you cannot pay the debt. Ask if you can be offered a payment schedule with installments.
